Student Spotlight: Youxue Ren & Feifan Xiang

We are proud to announce that Youxue Ren and Feifan Xiang, two outstanding MSc. Biostatistics students from the University of Toronto, have been selected for the prestigious T-CAIREM AI in Medicine Summer Student Research Program 2024. Congratulations to Youxue and Feifan!

Youxue Ren

  • T-CAIREM Supervisor: Andrew Sage, University Health Network
  • Research Project: ‘Smart Ventilation’ - Novel real-time biosensors and artificial intelligence for optimized mechanical ventilation in human lungs.

Feifan Xiang

  • T-CAIREM Supervisor: Bryan Ross, Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre
  • Research Project: From ‘Understanding’ to ‘Predicting’ Exacerbations: The COPD Remote Patient Monitoring Pandemic Platform.

These two students represent the best of our program, and their work this summer is poised to make significant contributions to the field of AI in healthcare. Both students will be working on projects at the intersection of technology and medicine, with Youxue focusing on improving patient care through smart ventilation systems, and Feifan on enhancing remote patient monitoring to predict health exacerbations.
